a flashy night

transsyberian orchestra - yes, don't ask - i already did - they call themselves that because they like it. jesus songs in rock'n'roll, xmassy tunes blazing on electric guitar, an armamentarium of lights twisting around the 14,000 in that stadium.
astonishing vocals and musicians. then came beethoven on piano and electric guitar, and then, Carmina Burana with rainbow lights, drums, piano, keyboard etc as Orff's explosive piece is played beyond intensity.
they even played Layla in between xmas songs.
i was sceptical at first with the whole xmas aspect to the evening but turns out they were absolutely original. they also reminded me of how much i missed plain old rock songs (never mind most of these were along the lines of glory to the newborn king)

so. i loved the lights. i was taking photos with my camera of the beautiful lights, seeing as i was at the perfect vantage point (we couldn't be any further or higher from the stage). i swear to you, only ONE lousy flash escaped. the rest were flashLESS, among a sea of flashFUL cameras around me.
a man with a mike points in our direction. i knew deep inside, like any half-culprit would know subconsciously, that it was I he was pointing at, just like my chemistry teacher once pointed at me and kicked me out. and just like in the old days, i pretended i didn't see him. he kept pointing beckoning and i kept faking ignoring. but no. he tells my friend to pass it along as he continues to point. at that point, no point messing around. yes. ok (angry gesture with hand rising to the heavens resignedly with frustration) and i get up, trample heads trip on my long skirt interrupt some important hot pink beam that was going to the one seat behind me and follow the pointy man. yes it's the camera. and no i did not know i couldn't. fine i'll erase them in front of you. no i wasn't using flash. ok can i go back now? of course everyone had to look intensely yet again as i trampled them on the way back.
(yes mr n 10 bucks it is)
soooo if you've seen the show, you'll know how blinding, how submerging, how bright their lights are.
it seems that my flash was way up there, in the competition, and it was deemed fit to be dealt with.
but hey. i'm lebanese. haha.
i didn't erase all the photos. in fact, i didn't erase most of the photos.
so there mr point. enjoy.
(snicker snicker snicker)
