the fellow with me asked, when i told him our elections have been delayed for a wonderful round number of 12 times, why we do that.
i didn't know what to say. he asked a simple question and i was embarrassed.
and then he said sometimes you need a little democracy (!)
piqued, as i usually am when someone non-lebanese refers to lebanese politics with the same cynicism that i would normally employ, i told him, in an attempt to redeem our national pride and international standing:
actually, (arrogant laugh here), we are too much of a democracy....herein lies the problem
sometimes i wonder why i bother with such bullshit (from my part i mean)
