the answer
et voila....why zizou decided it's now or never
"The answer, it has emerged, was a vile stream of racial and personal abuse.
First Marco Matterazzi called the French star the Italian equivalent of 'n*****', and then insulted both his mother and his Muslim background by saying he is the 'son of a terrorist whore."
from the Daily Mail
debate all you want, he's a man who decided to draw the line to defend the core of his pride. and, like everything else he does, he did it spectacularly!

First of all, which journalist made that crap up ("First Marco Matterazzi called the French star the Italian equivalent of 'n*****', and then insulted both his mother and his Muslim background by saying he is the 'son of a terrorist whore").
I mean I didnt see a microphone next to either Matterazzi, or Zidane. And, I seriously doubt either one of them spoke to the media about this issue.
Moreover, he was a "Juve" star, and most probably very well accustomed to such controversy and altercation. For all we know, and shockingly enough, he may have been paid to do this! I mean honestly, what a moment to chose for snapping like that!
Last but not least, as a neutral "Brazil" fan, Italy deserved the win fair and square. They were robbed from their second goal because the offsides call was bull! The only, truly BS call was the first penalty kick for France and we all know it!
The End!

wlek ya mr N there's no doubt that italy sucked in the 2nd half and france completely dominated. the only reason italy won was because they got lucky on the PK's
as for zizou we'll have to wait and see, he's gonna tell all
L of course i'd have a different opinion as materazzi does not even come close to zizou's stature and what he stands for in france
khalas, sakkarna (we're closed and tired) for now

To add some facts to your false opinions about Zidane (ie. Louay and Rouba) He is no Bob Marley. This is a piece from an article in the Washington Post:
"Zidane, the 34-year-old son of Christian Algerian immigrants, grew up in a poor suburb of the southern French port city of Marseille. Some fans blamed his upbringing in La Castellane, a tough neighborhood, for his aggressive nature.
"Zidane will remain a great player," Ayoub Argoubi, a 17-year-old resident of the soccer star's boyhood community, told the French newspaper Le Monde. "He may have forgotten us, but his head butt is a leftover from Castellane."
Newspapers around the world were less forgiving.
"Zizou loses control," declared the front page of Beirut's French-language L'Orient-Le Jour, which went on to describe his behavior as shameful.
Zidane has a history of losing his temper under duress in important games. During the 1998 World Cup playoffs, he received a red card for stomping on a player from Saudi Arabia."
....no comment....

he always loses control
14 red cards..
did it before
poor background, poor zidane
racism (what surprised?!!) aren't we all living in a world of racism. aren't people dying every day because of racism. he had to put up with it along with millions of dollars.. poor zizou
was the insult to his mom, his sister... he's a god but he's human too... blah blah...
you have to be responsible for your actions in life, especially when one is in the spotlight and when you're an idol to so many people and kids especially. you just can't go on and hit people.
enough already, drama drama..
rouba they won, it's over.
even zidane is over it by now..

it should not become so personal.
By the way mirvat,I do not think zidane is over it.
he actually told me he is disappointed that mirvat is not supporting him. he loves rouba though.
And as fas as mr N.is concerned he is waiting to see you for the best nat7a.

are you kidding paso, i love zidane. what he did is something i can relate to. it's the emotional side of me that feels, yes hit the m*****f*** but i know that he should be above that. these people are paid so much money to be symbols. as long as he's on the field, his emotions should be set aside.

Ok time to put some sense and facts into this particularly for you Mr. N:
1) Your suggestion that Zidane may have been paid to do this is beyond ridiculous.
2) Zidane had his own share of outbursts on the field like most other superstars who are constantly subjected to close and often violent marking (see Pele and Maradona's history). That does not diminsh his peers' admiration to him (thus the Marley reference which was first given to him by British socccer expert Paul Doyle and got stuck on him since).
3) To say that Italy won fair and square is the silliest comment of many. Italy played well the first half and was probably better than France for the last 20 min of it. Italy did not show up after the break and the game was played pretty much in Italy's half. I am not sure what game you were watching but I will have to assume you were busy drinking beer at that point so you did not notice that. To remind you, let's review the game stats:
- Time of ball posession: France 68%, Italy 32%
- Shots on goal: France 13, Italy 5
- Corners: France 7, Italy 5
- Even if you did not agree with the penalty kick (which was correct) there was a worst foul on Malouda by Zamrotta that was not called.
- I don't have time to explain the offside rule and game interference.
4) Although I agree with the tough upbringing, I suggest that you don't get your sources from an American newspaper when it come to soccer. Not that it matters, but Zidane is not Christian as your newspaper claims. He was born to Algerian Barbar Muslim parents and he himself is a non-practicing Muslim who is married to a Christian Spanish woman (see personal quote in and interview with the Observer http://observer.guardian.co.uk/osm/story/0,,1182707,00.html and a million other sources.
5) I agree with Paso, Mr. N YOU deserve a big Nat7a.
6) To Mirvat: yes he is paid millions of dollars, and yes what he did was incredibly STUPID but the fact that he is "on the field" is precisely what makes conrol of emotions difficult. At age 34, He had played to that point 115 minutes of an uptempo incredibly physically demanding game, with the emotional burden of being his nation's hope in a World CUp FINAL, not to mention the last game of his life! If this is not a pressure cooker, I don't know what is. There was no player on that field with a similar burden. And while still regrettable and stupid, I am sure you can understand why he could have lost control.
Bottom line is:
Zidane, a player from another planet, after all is only human!
