Lucked in or out?
Just watched Matchpoint for Woody Allen and loved it! Here's why:
1. Woody Allen merely director/producer and did not act in movie so audience not subjected to his stumbling speeches and attempts to impress intellectual/quirky female protagonist through deep artsy exhaustingly existential conversation
2. the 2 lead male actors sooo cute and cute!
3. Luuurv accent of British aristocracy - who else can pull off saying 'a dollop of cream' with wit and candour?
4. Every character has questionable morals just like reaal people in the reaal world, and not one is likeable
5. Showed man (and not woman) to be a fickle creature indeed and in deed
6. Dreams often explain reality
7. Scarlett Johannsen's lips were used to talk and not just to pout
8. Predictable twist takes unpredictable twist
9. British 'ton' (upper class socialites) watching 'Motorcycle Diaries'
10. No justice in the world but if you're lucky luck may be on your side

rouba- you are such a good writer. i have seen so much on the movie matchpoint- trailers, critics' reviews, actors' interviews; but it wasn't until i read your eloquent descriptions that makes me want to see it- andrea

i have to agree with andrea, that's exactly how i felt! i don't like scarlet's lips, they simply don't go with the rest of her face! and i don't think they're sensual at all..they somehow make her look like she just got beaten up or something.
