what you see before you is the stage and what you should do is take a peep behind the scenes for that thing called truth, if you are human enough to want to do that.
otherwise you can sit there watching the play, lying back in your cozy cushiony seat with popcorn and oodles of yellow icky butter, growing fatter by the second, while behind the scenes the gritty director and his weasly assistant (both plump and rosy) are whipping the living shit out of the production crew. they've mastered puffing at their cigars while simultaneously whipping harder and stronger.
Below is an excerpt from an article that reveals a good "behind the scenes" look.

They sing sanctimonious hymns to the glory of international law as they veto it into the oblivion of a million shell fragments.
