peer pressure

i keep my promises so i am writing this post despite the hurricane winds that are threatening to blow the top of my house away. the rest of the apartment will safely remain on the ground through the sheer power and weight of my wardrobe(s).

why is nature so unfriendly and savage on this continent?
and WHY can't they just call this WINTER instead of handing us spring illusions and leaving us yearning for a droplet of sun or a little flowerbud on these naked branches? when it's not snowing it's raining and when it's not raining it's icing and when it's not icing it's goddamn hurricaning!

BRING ME THE SUN...WHY WOULD ANYBODY WANT THE MOON ANYWAY?

'Ultimo Tango a Parigi' - another breathtaking Bertollucci. Beautiful and crass, orangy and moving, broken phrases and perversions a gogo. perhaps a little existential. juxtaposes complete, exciting unstable freedom vs comfortable, 'normal', boring conformity. hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

most memorable quote: Your happiness is my hap-penis

  • 5:00 am, I just finished reading my 5th fantasy book ever that I bought earlier today. I don't usually read fantasy and the only others I've read are the three lord of the rings (which I've read back when I was 15 way before the movies thank you very much) and the Hobbit. This one was called "a wizard of Earthsea" and it really sucked me in.

    -The Moon-
Shakespeare said: "The moon's an arrant thief, And her pale fire she snatches from the sun." but Lawrence said "The moon is a white strange world, great, white, soft-seeming globe in the night sky, and what she actually communicates to me across space I shall never fully know. But the moon that pulls the tides, and the moon that controls the menstrual periods of women, and the moon that touches the lunatics, she is not the mere dead lump of the astronomist. When we describe the moon as dead, we are describing the deadness in ourselves. When we find space so hideously void, we are describing our own unbearable emptiness"

Last Tango in Paris: Great movie, strong sexual theme, reminiscent of bitter moon.

  • sorry for the pressure. good to have you back.

  • always the sun! this is why people worship it... this is why Ra was the ultimate god at one point, and the moon has always been at best a sub-god...
Very important question Rouba... and don't venture to hannibal land in this weather :)

  • both the sun and the moon have been equal gods in many ancient civilizations. i prefer the moon. there's a sad quiet dignified charm about the moon that speaks to the soul

  • LC you win - poets prefer the moon to my sun :( (moonface)

The half moon shows a face of plaintive sweetness
    Ready and poised to wax or wane;
A fire of pale desire in incompleteness,
Tending to pleasure or to pain
    C. Rossetti

    or better yet:
    I see the moon,
    The moon sees me
    God bless the moon,
    And God bless me

Mirv, it's great to look at the moon yet feel the sun

Gus let's form a club (divine secrets of the ra-ra sisterhood)

  • The moon? (ha!) a sub-god at most; read your hieroglyphic Mirvat...
Blessed be thee, Ra the almighty.
(Rouba you'll be Mother Superior? in the temple?)

  • You guys are crazy. The sun is way in your face. The moon is behind the scenes. Tricks you with subtle beauty, yet controls the tides, the emotions, and much more! The sun gives you cancer!

  • I go for the moon...

  • the sun is always there, you just couldnt see it.
the sun is not hiding, your brain seems to be playing tricks on you.
Open your eyes, look look, it is right there! Yes, yes, you are not dreaming!
It is the light, this is the ultimate light!
